Sri Gopala Krishna Swamy was born on November 06, 1951 in Bangalore, and named Gopala. In time he became a Saint of great repute and an Eternal Guru to countless devotees across the World, who received unconditional love from him. Sri Gopala Krishna Swamy was no ordinary soul. As He Himself has said many times – “I am no stranger to this world. I was here also in the time of Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa, and when Ramakrishna was born, He brought His entourage with Him, and I was also one of them. I know Siddharudha and Ramana Maharishi. I was with all these Great Souls. I am the result of an evolutionary process. I am the manifestation of the Eternal Consciousness.”
Sri Gopala Krishna Swamy was also blessed with the gift of prophecy since childhood. He used to say – “what flashes in my mind, the whispers of my heart, materializes as Reality. I do not know if this is my own strength or the mercy of the Almighty. Only God knows that, He is Everything.”
His life was not about himself, but about others, using his healing powers and healing them of their sickness, helping them in times of crises and showing them the true path to Godliness. His compassion for all living beings, knew no bounds. Sacrifice for others was a part of his life. He was a Sai, connected to Shirdi Sai, Sai Samarth and Sathya Sai. He had a special relationship with Bhagawan Sathya Sai, who He said was His master. He used to say that His mission, entrusted by Bhagawan was to help and support all devotees in their devotion and its expression through unselfish acts of Public Good, Community service and Global Harmony and Peace.
Sri Gopala Krishna Swamy went into Maha Samadhi on June 11, 2020 as Sri Sri Sri Prabhudananda Saraswati, a name given to him by his mentor in the Ramakrishna Ashram. His final resting place was at the Sri Soma Sai Skanda Ashram at Nidaghatta, which he had founded and built with great care and devotion as a future pilgrimage centre.
Sri Gopala Krishna Swamy had moved from the Seen to the Unseen. He had very often told His devotees – “I am limited by my Body, my real work starts after I leave it”. His devotees called Him Gopala Baba or Swamy and his name was used interchangeably. To his Devotees, He is variously a Friend, Philosopher, Guide and Mother. He continues His Grace and lives on in their hearts as their Eternal Guru. By chanting His Guru Mantra – “Om Sri Sai Chandramouleeswara Pahimamam Rakshamam”, one is sure to get His Grace.
